When I buy a work of art, I like to know something about the person that created it.  Here is some of my history (the good stuff) and my philosopy.

My Philosophy

My mother always told me that, "If I wasn't going to do a job right, don't do it at all."  My goal is to provide my customers with a quality work of art at an affordable price.

The works from my hand, though maybe not divinely inspired, are drawn from my heart.  It is my sincere desire to provide my customers with a work of art that not only enhances any wall but also inspires the viewer to have a closer relationship with God.

About the Artist

D.E. Overdorf grew up in a farming community central Indiana.  He joined the Army National Guard and later the active Army as a paratrooper with the 82d Airborne.  After retiring from active duty, he taught Middle School science for five years.  During that time he met and married a wonderful lady from the Hill Country of Texas.  Today they operate a small cattle company and bed and breakfast on her homestead.  His faith journey, as recounted below, has brought him to drawing inspirational pictures as an Art of Faith.

Art of Faith

As a young child I always had pencil and paper in my hands.  I have always found it easier to express my thoughts and feelings on paper through visual images.  My mother and my aunt ensured my Christian upbringing by making my cousins and I attend Sunday school every week and Bible School every summer.  When I reached adulthood and ventured out on my own, I placed God on a shelf thinking that I could “go it on my own.”  I spent most of my life struggling with relationships and my own self-worth.  On a Friday evening my world collapsed when I came home to an empty house.  Divorce, loss of my children and struggling financially left me at the end of my rope.  Falling to my knees in my backyard on Sunday morning, as my emotions swung between hurt, guilt and anger, I asked the Lord for help.  There in my clouded mind I could see the image of a nearby wooden church.  I went inside, changed clothes, took God off the shelf and went to that small wooden house of worship.  From that moment on my life changed for the better.  As I look back at my half century here on earth, I realize that my happiest moments were, and still are, when I lived in the Grace of God.  Today I am trying to spread God’s message that if all people will come to Him and follow His word their life here on earth will be better because their life after will be assured.  I hope you find these drawings inspiring and helpful in your own faith journey.

Art of Faith is a brand new company.  I am excited about sharing my work and my inspiration with my customers.  The web is only one way of sharing my work.  Look for my drawings at galleries, and art catalogs.
